We have been a Training Practice since 1979. As a four partner practice, we adopt a group approach to training, with all members of staff available to support the GPR. Albert Cave is our main trainer. Appointed in May 1998, he has now supervised seven GP Registrars. Niall Ferguson is an ex-trainer. Our other partners are Olive Fairbairn and Lois Watts.
We employ two salaried doctors - Hazel Begley and Naula Lynch. We also have a nurse practitioner- Sharon Boylett. We have a full complement of nurses : attached health visitors, district nurses, and practice nurses. Our Nursing Team supports regular student nurse attachments from the University of Surrey Guildford.
The Salisbury Road Surgery is purpose built (completed in 1964 and extended in 1993) in a suburban setting. The practice serves a mixed population of 9400 patients. Patients are seen on the ground floor, administration occurs on the first floor. We have a fully equipped library / meeting room on the first floor, and all rooms have internet access. The surgery is fully computerised using the versatile EMIS system (1999).The registrar has exclusive use of his/her own room and receives excellent support from the team at the surgery.
