During the Working Day Normal surgery hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 - 18:30 and appointments can be made by phone or at reception. For routine matters, appointments will normally be offered in 2 working days. We are continually reviewing our appointments system to try and ensure that we deliver the best service possible. Many problems can be dealt with by a phone consultation with the doctor. You may be offered this opportunity, or request this when you speak to the Receptionist. Genuinely urgent matters will always be offered an appointment on the same day. NHS Direct offers advice on managing many conditions. See Surgery Times for a more detailed plan of the Doctor's surgeries.
Same Day Appointments We believe that it is important to be able to offer a same day appointment in instances where patients feel that their problem needs that attention. However, please understand that it is difficult to accommodate this demand, especially at busy times of year. Please note that routine matters will not be addressed in these appointments and that only one issue will be dealt with. If the problem is long and complicated, the doctor may well ask you to return at a later date.
Home Visits Home visits can be time consuming and our aim is to reserve this service for those who really need it. Two or three patients can be seen at the surgery in the time taken to do a house call. We appreciate your efforts in attending the surgery where possible. We are unable to offer visits for those who have no immediate transport. Transport must remain the patient's responsibility. If you wish to request a home visit, you will normally receive a phone call from the duty doctor to discuss the situation. It may, for example, be more appropriate to arrange direct transefr to hospital rather than delaying and waiting for a GP to visit. Requests for home visits must be made before 11:00 to allow the Doctors to plan their visiting priorities.
In an Emergency During working hours, if you present at the Medical Centre with an emergency, we will see you as soon as possible. If you are at home and feel that you require emergency attention, please phone the surgery and one of the doctors will speak to you as soon as possible. In many cases, for instance chest pains, you may be advised to call an ambulance.
Out of Hours Please phone the surgery number and listen carefully to the message. The Doctors at FGMC actively support Frimley Primary Care Services LTD and all of us work a share of the duties at this service.
