FLU INFORMATION PAGE
SEASONAL FLU
We still have seasonal flu vaccines available.
As
in previous years ,all those Aged over 65 and those of any age in one of the following “At Risk” Groups
are eligible for FREE FLU VACCINATIONS :-
Respiratory Disease & Asthma
Chronic Heart Disease
Chronic Renal Disease
Chronic Liver Disease
Stroke & TIA Patients
Diabetes
Patients with suppressed immune systems
In
addition those patients in receipt of a Carer’s allowance or those who are the
main carer for an elderly or disabled person will
be eligible at the GPs discretion.

SWINE FLU
Please note we are able to
offer vaccinations to those patients in Groups 1 to 5 below
We are following Department of Health guidelines in
vaccinating patients in the following groups ONLY.
GROUP ONE
Individuals aged 6 months and up to 65 years in the clinical at-risk groups (see
below)
GROUP TWO
All pregnant women
GROUP THREE
Household contacts of immuno-compromised individuals
GROUP FOUR
People aged 65 and over in the clinical at-risk groups (See below)
GROUP FIVE
Children aged between 6 months and five years old
The Clinical At-Risk
Groups are :-
Respiratory Disease eg COPD and Asthma (requiring
use of inhaled or systemic steroids)
Heart Disease
Renal Disease
Liver Disease
Neurological Disease eg Stroke or TIA
Diabetes
With
the number of swine flu cases now falling, it has been announced that the National
Pandemic Flu Service (NPFS) will be closed on February 11th.
After this time, anyone who thinks they have swine flu symptoms should stay at
home and call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 or phone the surgery for advice.
